we did not have a clue as to the identity of this very large butterfly found West of Sucúa, 1000 m.


Roberto Vinciguerra, one of the very few Castniidae specialists, thinks it probably is Duboisvalia ecuadoria.


Bob Worthy tells us it looks like form plethoneura, and confirms the taxonomy of the Genus Duboisvalia is a mess, and that it will take quite a few years to know better.
