Pyrrhopyge draudti draudti is the Andean subspecies ; we always saw it between 1000 and 1300 m on the Eastern limits of the Park.
one can see that the wings are not black, but a very dark shade of blue/green.
the right handside female, found near Mendez, has unusual white markings
