Heliconius melpomene plesseni flies between 1100 and 1600 meters and is rather common, but only near rio Pastaza.
several forms have been described, depending on the amount of red in the FW white patches ; we believe that these forms are meaningless, as you can find as many "forms" as you want ; see individual variation.
