Male

Female

wingspan : male 42, female 52 mm

typical Altinote leontine, found at Ñuñurco, and different from the Altinote leontine collected near Zhud, a dryer area.

we keep the "leontine" name for two reasons :
1 - the scarcity, the behaviour and the limited hatchings of this butterfly have nothing to do with the huge numbers, the behaviour (mud puddling) and the massive hatchings of Altinote negra.
2 - Gerardo Lamas didn't tell the reasons why he synonimized leontine and negra ?
