this skipper is Pyrrhopyge melanomerus patma as indicated by its DNA ;
Pyrrhopyge papius papius and P. melanomerus patma are sometimes quite common in the Eastern half of Sangay NP, generally between 1000 and 2000 m.
both species look exactly the same, but, in Sangay NP, it would seem that P. papius is common, when P. melanomerus is not ; we only found it - no doubt - near 9 de Octubre, and, later, near Palora.
