Leptophobia penthica flies in Colombia and in Ecuador (d’Abrera 1981), usually between 1500 and 2500 meters.
it is frequent in the Baños/Puyo Corridor and in the valley of rio Paute, less frequent in the 9 de Octubre area.
as is the case with several Leptophobia species, females have two forms, a white form and a yellow one, both variable.
