Gindanes brebisson taxonomy does not make much sense ; this butterfly, from 26 km South of Bella Unión (1000 m), looks pretty much like the G. brebisson brebna from Bolivia illustrated on BoA, including the type ; there is only one clearly visible difference : the shape of the FW cell yellow marking which is more "panaetius" than "brebna".


but, on BoA there is just one Gindanes brebisson brebna from Ecuador,  1 - it comes from Cotopaxi Province (West of the Andes, 2 - it has the HWUN yellow when it is blue on brebna, 3 - it looks just like the two specimens we collected at los Cedros
