d'Abrera (1994) indicates that Ithomia ardea flies in Bolivia and Brasil; but these two specimens were collected near Mendez ; it is an uncommon species.
today Ithomia ardea is Ithomia arduinna ardea (having been I. salapia ardea fot some time) ; very near the town of Mendez Ithomia ardea flies along with the regular Ithomia salapia confirming that ardea cannot be a subspecies of salapia.
