wingspan : 65/75 mm
Panacea prola flies from Costa Rica to the Amazon basin (d’Abrera, de Vries).
it gets close to the Park at rio Pastaza, at an elevation of 900 meters and farther South, at the same elevation.
this butterfly is both conspicuous and fast flying, but also very seasonal, with, sometimes, massive outbreaks ; we witnessed two of those hatchings on the North bank near the old Pastaza hanging bridge in October 2006 and September 2007, we saw another one West of the Andes, in february 2019, at Santa Rosa, near San Miguel de los Bancos, and we saw more in Colombia, near Cali, and in Peru, near Quincemil.
