wingspan : 55/74 mm
from Colombia to Peru, East of the Andes, Mechanitis polymnia has four ssp : veritabilis, dorissides, eurydice and proceriformis, and it is impossible to tell one from the others, and they're all highly variable.
worse, we have five new ssp presently being described for this same area ! does it make much sense to have nine ssp, almost identical, extremely variable, and without any geographical barriers ?
we prefer to consider that we only have, in Sangay NP, one highly variable Mechanitis polymnia ssp.
