Adelpha alala is a very common butterfly from Venezuela down to Argentina with several subspecies ; in the Sangay flies A. a. negra which is present from Colombia down to Northern Argentina (KRW 2003).
in the Park we saw it in the Baños/Puyo Corridor, near 9 de Octubre and near Sucúa and Méndez.
there is a form, scarce, a greenish brown and without any orange markings
