a mountain butterfly, Adelpha lycorias lara flies from the Carribean down to Northern Argentina, usually between 500 and 1800 meters (KRW 2003).
in the Sangay we saw it on dirt roads near Rio Negro and on the Eastern limits of the Park.
the female, uncommon, is slightly larger and paler, but otherwise looks like the male.
