wingspan : male 42, female 52 mm
Altinote leontine, found at Ñuñurco ; the female is surprising, with its yellow ground colour it looks rather like form menoetes from farther West.
we keep the "leontine" name for two reasons :
1 - the scarcity, the behaviour and the limited hatchings of this butterfly have nothing to do with the huge numbers, the behaviour (mud puddling) and the massive hatchings of Altinote negra.
2 - Gerardo Lamas didn't tell the reasons why he synonimized leontine and negra ?
