four ssp or forms of H. melpomene fly in Sangay NP : H. m. plesseni, H. m. ecuadorensis, H. m. malletti and H. m. plesseni f. mimetica,
they're clearly supposed to be parapatric, but, in one area South of Puyo, they all fly together, giving birth to all kinds of mixed forms.
we present a sample of these forms, by "pattern" ; here, a pattern similar to typical H. m. plesseni, but the alar patches are yellow, not white and pink.
