all Oxeochistus look alike, and O. protogenia is probably the most frequently encountered species; it seems to fly between 1000 and 2000 meters;
it is a common sight in the Sangay, in the Baños/Puyo corridor, and also near 9 de Octubre and at Sardinayacu.
