Hypanartia dione is quite common a butterfly from Guatemala to Bolivia (d’Abrera 1987).
in Ecuador it usually flies at elevations of 1500 to 2500 meters. very attracted to organic waste.
seen in the Park between 9 de Octubre and Zuñac, and from the Baños/Puyo corridor down to Sucúa, at 1000 meters only.
