Temenis laothoe flies from Mexico to Southern Brasil with many forms ? or subspecies ? one does not know.
however, there would be a cline, "the colouration changing gradually from unicolorous dull orange in Mexico, to a rich orange-pink and hyacinth in southern Brasil" (d'Abrera 1987) ; but, in Sangay NP, both fly in the same places (see individual variation page).
seen from Puyo to Mendez, at about 1000 m.
