Eunica alcmena flies from Mexico to Peru, subspecies E. a. flora living in Ecuador and Peru (d’Abrera 1987). at moderate elevations it is a rather common butterfly in the Oriente, but it also flies West of the Andes;
in the Park we saw it near rio Pastaza, rio Shankaime, rio Tutamangosa and rio Paute.
the female, dark brown with a white line on the FW, is quite uncommon.
