Astraptes alardus seen near Puyo, at rio Shankaime, at San Isidro and around Sucúa and Mendez.

Astraptes alardus is supposed to have:
      -  one subspecies in Central America, with UP blue, and not green, and, on the FWUN, large whitish markings along the outer margin, it is A. a. latia,
      - and another subspecies in South America, with a green UP, and reduced white markings under the FW, it is A. a. alardus;

but,
      - in several places in South America, and particularly in Sangay NP, we found green specimens with strong white markings under the FW (?),
      - and, in Mendez, we caught green specimens, but also, two blue ones (?).

so we think it is safer to only say that these butterflies are Astraptes alardus, which could prove to be wrong, as there could be different species (?).
