Male

Female

wingspan : male 45/48, female 57 mm

pending the revision currently in progress we should have two slides : Porphyrogenes omphale for the male, and Porphyrogenes passalus for the female ; we prefer to anticipate as, today, there is little doubt that they're male and female of the same species.

we collected this Porphyrogenes passalus female near Mendez (identified by DNA sequencing), it is exceedingly rare a butterfly ; the male is said to be rather scarce, but it is sometimes rather common on the SE limits of the Park.
