Heliconius erato notabilis lives only in the Ecuadoran Oriente, and particularly in the Provinces of Morona Santiago and Pastaza ; it apparently flies between 1100 and 1500 meters and is quite common in a very limited area.
there are several forms of Heliconius erato notabilis,
but we only saw the typical form (below center), the specimen on the left, with very little red, and the female on the right with no white left.
