Urbanus doryssus was supposed to be a good species, and a very rare one in Ecuador ; there is only one specimen at the BM(NH) (Ernst Brockmann pers. com.).
but today,
1 - it is believed that several species are to be found under the Urbanus doryssus name, and
2 - this butterfly (these butterflies) is (are) not so scarce in Sangay NP, and
3 - we also found it (them) in the NW, the NE and the South of Ecuador.
we noted that the tails of Sangay NP U. doryssus are clearly triangular, when it is not the case for West of the Andes and Southern Ecuador populations.
we cannot be positive re. pictures 5 & 6, it could be U. albimargo takuta ?
